The RacorPro PHL-1R takes only minutes to install. | Easy-to-Install Pulley System Frees up Floor Space The PBH-1R uses a pulley system that makes it easy to raise and lower bikes weighing up to 50 pounds. The system can be installed on ceilings as high as 14 feet, and the unique rope locking system ensures that the rope stays locked in place when not in use. Storing your bike off the floor not only protects your bike from damage, but it frees up valuable floor space, helping to keep your space tidy and better organized. Installing the Racor PBH-1R is a breeze, and you can have it completed within a matter of minutes. The only tools necessary for installation are a Phillips head screwdriver, a drill with a 1/8" bit, a tape measure, and a stud finder (for ceilings with drywall). The easy-to-follow instructions will have your Ceiling-Mounted Bike Lift ready to go in just five easy steps. Solid-Steel Construction for Durability The PBH-1R is built to last. All of its included hardware is constructed from solid steel for maximum durability and toughness. The locking mechanism, pulleys, rope cleat, and lift mechanism offer smooth performance for years to come. The included 48-foot lift rope is also extremely durable, and it provides plenty of excess length for ceilings up to 14-feet high. Easy Raising and Lowering with Minimal Effort The PBH-1R makes it a breeze to raise and lower your bike from its ceiling-mounted position. The pulley system handles the brunt of the force, so it requires very little effort on your part. Simply hook the bike handlebar and seat to the included hooks and pull the lift rope to raise the bike to its ceiling-mounted storage position. With each pull, the locking mechanism locks into place to eliminate accidental drops. Store the excess rope on the included rope cleat to keep it nice and tidy. The RacorPro PBH-1R Ceiling-Mount Bike Lift measures 10.24 x 5.12 x 3.5 inches (packaged) and weighs just 3.64 pounds (packaged). All included components feature a black finish. What's in the Box Two lift assemblies, two hook pulleys (one with locking mechanism), 48-foot rope, one rope cleat, 10 two-inch wood screws.

Easy to install and easy to use August 29, 2006 skst (Arlington Hts., IL USA) 112 out of 113 found this review helpful
I received two of these bike lifts as gifts. I installed them to replace my old "hooks-in-the-ceiling" method of hanging bicycles over my car. I had to take care to measure the height of the bicycle (adding a few inches for the pulleys) to ensure they cleared the car. I also measured the length of the bicycle to ensure it wouldn't be in the way of people walking around the car. Finally, I measured between the handlebars and seat so the pulleys were properly spaced. But once that was done, installation was a simple matter of drilling three pilot holes per pulley in a joist and screwing them in.
Although the instructions say to tie a stop knot in the rope and thread it through the pulleys and hooks before installation, it's easier not to do that until after you've installed the pulleys. (I did tie a knot in the rope and run it through the hole before I installed the first pulley, but that that turned out not to be necessary because there's enough clearance to push the rope through afterwards.)
Finally, I installed the cleats low enough to reach but high enough so people don't have to duck under the rope.
Like some of the other reviewers, one of my ropes was frayed. (The other one was fine.) I wrote an e-mail to Racor and a vice-president responded almost immediately. I received a replacement rope two days later. Awesome!
Conclusion: These lifts work very well, are easy to install, are reasonably priced, and are backed by excellent customer service.
Simple and Effective November 17, 2005 M. Sommers (Leesburg, VA USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Wow. I had reservations about buying this Bicycle Hoist because I had seen basically the same product listed for much more money... In the back of my mind I was wondering what I was giving up by not spending the extra money. So far, I can't see what I'm missing. I think this bike hoist is awesome! It only took about 15 minutes to install, and putting my bike away using the hoist only takes about 15 seconds!
rope is good January 7, 2008 H. Clark 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I mounted this bike rack in the garage. It was easy after finding the stud and using the supplied bolts. Someone complained that the rope frayed easily and I found out why. The metal steel is punched out to make the hole that the rope is pulled through. This is the last part the rope goes through, then it held by hand to raise the bike. This punched out hole has sharp burs that snag the rope and will rip it up unless you file them off. The first time I pulled the bike up I knew it would be a problem so I deburred the hole and it works fine now.
Bought two more sets October 23, 2005 Paul A. Boston 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Great product!! I purchased the first two from Costco (for a little more money) and they worked very well for the bicycles even with my 11 foot ceilings. Then some other things that were on the floor and less than 50 # begged to be suspended. Works for those too.
Shipper was prompt and stuff was in perfect condition.
Not only for bikes...for kayaks too!! May 18, 2007 Lauren Gale (No Left Turn, NJ) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this on sale for $19 thinking that if it didn't work for my kayak, I'd use it for my bike and there would be harm done. Well, this thing is perfect for the kayak. Sure, there aren't hydraulic lifts or anything to help you lift it so it takes some effort, but for $19, who can complain?! The only modification for lifting the kayak was turning the hooks 180 degrees so that they face outward.
We installed the lift above and perpendicular to the girders so that the kayak could be flush with the ceiling. It works like a charm. I'm sure the same could be done for bike use which would allow for another foot of space below the bike.
